Planning to visit the Bushwick Collective Block Party 2026 with your dog? Here’s everything NYC dog parents need to know about Brooklyn’s iconic FREE street art festival.

If you’ve been following us for a while, on our social media then you already know Chance and street art go hand in hand. As native New Yorkers and proud Brooklynites, we always loved exploring the city through its ever-changing outdoor street art scene — and The Bushwick Collective has been one of our favorite places to do exactly that.
There’s something magical about wandering through Bushwick and discovering new murals, fresh graffiti pieces, and walls that completely transform every time we come back. Over the years, it’s become one of our favorite outdoor spots to revisit again and again with Chance — not just for the incredible art, but for the energy, creativity, music, and community that make this part of Brooklyn feel so uniquely NYC.
From spontaneous photo walks to meeting artists we’ve admired for years, every visit feels different — which is exactly why we never get tired of coming back. If you love street art, hip-hop, photography, graffiti culture, and authentic NYC creative energy, the Bushwick Collective Block Party is easily one of the city’s best cultural events and one of our favorite ways to kick off summer in New York City.
⚠️ Dog parent disclaimer: While this is one of our favorite NYC events, it can get extremely crowded, loud, and overstimulating with live music, large crowds, food smells, and lots of distractions. We only recommend bringing dogs that are comfortable in busy city environments. For small dogs, senior dogs, or pups that tire easily, we highly suggest using a stroller and arriving earlier in the day before the crowds peak. 🐾
Last year we attended the 14th Annual Bushwick Collective Block Party and it honestly felt like one giant celebration of NYC street culture. The 2025 block party brought together live mural painting, legendary hip-hop, graffiti artists from around the world, food vendors, and nonstop creative energy all across Bushwick. One of the biggest highlights was watching hip-hop legend Rakim headline the main stage while artists painted massive new murals live throughout the neighborhood.

One of our favorite moments was finally meeting street artist Urban Ruben in person — an artist we’ve followed for years whose work has become instantly recognizable in the street art world. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, Urban Ruben (Ruben Ubiera) is known for his bold “urban-pop” mural style inspired by graffiti culture, NYC street life, and vibrant city energy. His murals often blend hyper-detailed portraits, animals, movement, and urban storytelling, and he’s created several dog-inspired murals over the years that we absolutely love as dog parents and street art fans.
You can explore more of his work here:
We also got to snap a selfie with legendary graffiti artist Deps One right after he finished painting his wall — which felt incredibly surreal if you grew up loving NYC graffiti culture. Watching artists create these giant pieces live, spray can in hand while music echoed through the streets, is honestly one of the coolest parts of the entire event. I
About Deps One
Carson Deyoung (Aka Deps) intertwines his love for surrealism, typography, and mixed media collage to forge an art uniquely his own. His journey into creating murals started with an accumulation of visual inspiration from almost a decade’s worth of collage work on canvas. Yearning for the creative freedom to work on a larger scale, he made the decision to transfer his work onto walls. Finding creative and thoughtful ways to translate his art to his surroundings, to the people, and the community around him, the influences of Carson’s extensive travels and romance with typography are evidenced and incorporated in his work that is constantly emerging anew.
You can explore more of his work here:
What makes his work especially fun to watch live is how detailed and immersive the pieces become as they develop throughout the day — from abstract lettering to full surreal compositions. Seeing artists finish an entire wall in person at the Bushwick Collective Block Party and getting a selfie afterward honestly felt like a full-circle NYC street art moment for us as locals!
It’s not just a block party — it feels like stepping inside a living, evolving outdoor art gallery. We even got to see Hip-Hop Legend Rakim perform!

If you’re looking for one of the coolest FREE NYC events to experience with your dog this summer, the 15th Annual Bushwick Collective Block Party should be at the top of your list.
From massive street murals and legendary hip-hop performances to food trucks, local vendors, and creative Brooklyn energy everywhere you look, this annual Bushwick tradition is one of our favorite dog-friendly NYC adventures for people watching, photography, and soaking up authentic New York culture.
We went last year with Chance and honestly? It felt like stepping inside a living outdoor art gallery.
One of the highlights was meeting several artists in person — including street artist Urban Ruben, who we’d followed online for years. And yes… dog mom even managed to get surprisingly close to the main stage during legendary headliner Rakim’s performance. The entire neighborhood transformed into one giant celebration of NYC street culture.
This year’s event is shaping up to be even bigger.

Is the Bushwick Collective Block Party Really Dog-Friendly?
Yes — and honestly, it’s one of the more exciting NYC street festivals we’ve attended with Chance.
That said, there are a few things NYC dog parents should know before going.
Why We Love Bringing Chance
🐾 Tons of visual stimulation and people watching
🐾 Amazing photo opportunities with murals and artists
🐾 Wide open street festival atmosphere
🐾 Friendly creative crowd
🐾 Great Brooklyn energy everywhere
Things To Keep In Mind
- It gets VERY crowded by afternoon (expect 20- +50K people)
- Music becomes VERY LOUD near the stage (dog dad stayed with Chance a few blocks away from the main stage during the live performances)
- There’s a lot of “smoking” so BEWARE of what’s on ground (closer to stage)
- Pavement gets VERY hot on sunny days
- Some areas may feel overwhelming for very anxious dogs
- Bring water and cooling gear
We highly recommend arriving earlier in the day if you’re bringing your dog. Morning hours tend to be less crowded and better for photos.
For senior dogs or smaller dogs like Chance, we also recommend:
- A pet stroller
- Cooling vest
- Portable water bowl
- Plenty of breaks (away from the main stage!)
Best Photo Spots at the Bushwick Collective
If you’re a content creator, photographer, or dog parent who loves taking aesthetic NYC photos, this event is basically heaven.
Some of our favorite photo opportunities include:
- Giant mural walls
- Graffiti-covered side streets
- Artist live-painting moments
- Colorful alleyways
- Street performance crowds
- Candid Brooklyn street scenes
Every block feels completely different, which makes it easy to spend hours exploring.
How To Get To the Bushwick Collective
The event takes place in Bushwick, Brooklyn near Scott Avenue and Troutman Street.
Subway Directions
Take the:
- L train to Jefferson Street
- L train to Morgan Avenue
Both stops are within walking distance of the festival area.
Driving Tips
Parking is extremely limited during the event. Public transportation is highly recommended.
If driving with your dog:
- Arrive early (before 10am)
- Use nearby parking garages
- Expect road closures and traffic
NYC Dog Parent Tips For Street Festivals
If you’re planning more dog-friendly NYC summer adventures, events like this can be incredibly fun with the right preparation.
Here’s what we always pack:
- Portable dog water bottle
- Cooling mat or vest
- High-value treats
- Waste bags
- Paw balm
- Lightweight harness
- Foldable bowl
- Emergency quiet break plan
Not every dog enjoys crowded festivals — and that’s okay. Chance personally loves environments where he can people-watch and explore at his own pace.
Why This Is One of NYC’s Most Unique Summer Events
What makes the Bushwick Collective special isn’t just the murals or performances — it’s the feeling.
It’s one of the few NYC events where street art, music, culture, fashion, food, and community all collide in a way that feels authentically New York.
All sharing the same streets together. And somehow every year, it still feels creative instead of commercial.
Final Thoughts
If you want to experience one of the most vibrant FREE NYC festivals of the summer, don’t miss the 2026 Bushwick Collective Block Party. Whether you come for the murals, music, food, photography, or just the energy of Brooklyn in late spring, this is one of those events that reminds you why NYC summers hit differently.
And if you spot a tiny chihuahua mix posing in front of murals… it might just be Chance so come over and say hi!
